As the list starts to come together for head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff as to which key targets of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class will be on campus for Junior Day, there is one name to note now. A prospect that Texas was in on early with, 4-Star Harker Heights (TX) interior offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman, now looks to be on the list of visitors for Junior Day on the Forty Acres.

Sark and the Longhorns staff are compiling a pretty solid list of visitors for Junior Day later this month. And according to a report from Inside Texas (part of the On3 Network, paid content) this weekend, Chatman recently joined the list of visitors for the Longhorns on Junior Day.

Texas’ Junior Day is also set for Jan. 22, making it one of the most important visit weekends of the winter months.

Texas football reportedly set to host 4-Star 2023 IOL Jaydon Chatman on Junior Day

Texas was actually the first major program to offer Chatman. He got an offer from Texas back on Sep. 18, 2021. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet include the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Baylor Bears.

Moreover, it looks like the Longhorns are making it a priority to continue building on their solid foundation with Chatman. He could turn into one of the top interior offensive linemen that offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood pursue early in 2022 to add to the 2023 recruiting class.

Texas already hosted Chatman for a few visits since last year. It’s a good sign that Texas is getting him on campus so frequently to try and establish an edge over competing schools in his recruitment such as Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and potentially even the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The lone commit in the Longhorns 2023 class as of the afternoon of Jan. 9 is the touted four-star Arlington-Seguin defensive back, Jamel Johnson. Add Chatman to the list of 2023 prospects that could join this class if Texas continues to impress him the way they apparently have so far.
