Among the few prospects left to watch that has an offer from the Longhorns 2022 class that could actually land on the Forty Acres when it’s all said and done is the three-star Harrison Central (MS) power forward Sam Murray. This 6-foot-8 and 190-pound power forward had attention from the Texas coaching staff nearly since the first week that Beard was hired to head up this program.

Since Beard and his staff have shown Murray this much attention going back beyond the last six months, he could return that respect with a commitment if they put some priority on getting him in the 2022 class in the weeks ahead. Murray does look to have some mutual interest in the Longhorns too.

Texas assistant Ulric Maligi is the primary recruiter going after Murray. And while it looks like the mutual interest between Maligi and the Longhorns and Murray’s camp has cooled down in recent months, that could pick back up before National Signing Day 2022.

Some of the other top schools to watch in pursuit of the commitment of Murray are the Baylor Bears, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Texas A&M Aggies, among a few others.

If there was a potential landing spot that I had to pick right now for Murray, it would probably be Mississippi State. But Texas doesn’t have any big men committed yet in the 2022 class, and Murray could certainly have himself a spot in this group if Texas upped the priority on getting a pledge from him before it’s all said and done with his recruitment.
