While the Longhorns and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood certainly did a nice job getting help along the line by way of the recruiting trail since the Early Signing Period last month, this is a name that must stick out on the Forty Acres. Texas could do well to at least consider the idea of sending an offer to the former blue-chip recruit and redshirt junior offensive guard Tommy Brown.

Both Flood and Sark were on the Crimson Tide coaching staff while Brown was trying to work his way up the depth chart along the offensive line in Tuscaloosa in the last couple of years.

Texas is less likely to go after help along the offensive line in the transfer portal now that they have such a touted haul with this group in the 2022 class. But Brown could be an exception given the ties he has back to this coaching staff in Austin.

Brown was also one of the highest-graded offensive guards for Alabama going all the way back to the 2019 season. He was never a consistent starter, but he’s taken more than 200 snaps in the last three seasons. That’s still a good amount of experience to bring to the table for the Longhorns.

It would also be nice to see Texas get a versatile and experienced offensive lineman that tends to hold up well in blocking for the run and the pass like Brown. Texas could use the help at the right guard position this year, which is a starting role that Brown could compete for right away.
