The talk of the town for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program this week, for the most part, is all of the targets the staff is going after in the NCAA Transfer Portal. With the Georgia Bulldogs topping the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game earlier this week to usher in the offseason officially, there was another wave of transfer portal entrants to watch.

It was namely a wave of transfer portal entrants among Crimson Tide players that likely caught the attention of the Texas coaching staff. A good portion of the Texas staff was employed by Alabama prior to Sark getting hired to replace Tom Herman last year.

The biggest priorities right now in the transfer portal for Texas football

Texas is looking to fill some positional needs that are important to figure out this offseason with some of the recent transfer portal entrants. With this wave of players entering the portal also looking like one of the most appealing to a few positions of need for the Longhorns, this should be an important part of the offseason timeline on the Forty Acres.

Depending on how fast the timelines of certain portal targets for the Longhorns are moving along early this offseason, Texas could get their next commit before too long. Texas is looking to at least get one or two of the few transfer portal targets that have emerged on their radar this week.
