On the afternoon of Jan. 16, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks, and the Texas football program made it three additions out of the NCAA Transfer Portal early this offseason. Texas landed a commitment out of the transfer portal on Jan. 16 from the former Alabama Crimson Tide junior tight end and blue-chip recruit Jahleel Billingsley.

This is big for Sark, Banks, and the Longhorns to get this talented of a tight end that is a proven threat in the passing game to the Forty Acres this weekend. Billingsley is a National Champion for the Crimson Tide from the 2020-21 season. And he just played in another College Football Playoff National Championship Game earlier in the week. Granted, Alabama did fall short to the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship Game on Jan. 10.

Texas lost a starting tight end to the transfer portal earlier this offseason with junior Jared Wiley leaving for the Big 12 foe TCU Horned Frogs last week.

Who could come next for Texas football out of the portal after landing TE Jahleel Billingsley?

Tight end was one of those positions in question for the Longhorns as to whether they would pursue help here out of the transfer portal this offseason. With an intriguing player as talented and potent as Billingsley emerging in the portal this offseason, it made sense that Texas would go after him.

Now that Texas has a commitment out of the portal from Billingsley in place, what’s up next for the program?

Here’s a look into the prediction of who the next portal addition could be for the Longhorns after Billingsley this offseason.
