Texas won’t have 5-Star QB Arch Manning visiting on Junior Day
For the first time in a little more than one month, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are set to host a big visit weekend for Texas football recruiting. With the dead period letting up heading into the holiday weekend, recruiting is coming back to the forefront for Texas for both the 2022 and 2023 classes.
And the top focus for the Longhorns 2023 class will continue to be the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Texas is putting a lot of its chips into one basket in terms of which quarterbacks they pursue on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class. But that is definitely worth it for the insanely-talented Louisana native Manning.
Yet, with a big visit weekend looming large for Sark and the Longhorns staff, it looked like one of the important names to watch was Manning. Due to some high school basketball games, though, Manning will have his attention elsewhere next weekend.
Texas football reportedly won’t have 5-Star QB Arch Manning in attendance for Junior Day
According to a report from Inside Texas (part of the On3 Network, paid content) this weekend, Manning will not be in attendance for the Longhorns’ Junior Day next weekend since he will be busy playing basketball. Given the fact that Manning plays for Isidore Newman High School basketball, it makes sense that the winter/spring visit schedule would be tough for him to configure.
There will also be other key opportunities for Manning to visit the Forty Acres. He’s also visited Austin multiple times already in the last calendar year or so.
This IT report did mention that Texas is still sitting in a good position with Manning after the turn of the calendar year. A few of the top schools that are consistently mentioned as contenders for Manning are the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, and Texas.
Texas still has a promising list of visitors for Junior Day next weekend. And if Junior Day goes well for Sark and the Longhorns staff, it could still go a long way to impressing Manning, even though he won’t be in attendance himself.
