This is a really disappointing stretch of late for new head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program on the night of Jan. 18. Texas couldn’t hang on to beat head coach Bruce Weber and the upset-minded Kansas State Wildcats at home at the Frank Erwin Center to sweep the regular-season series.

Beard and the Longhorns were looking to prevent a losing streak from extending to two games coming out of the holiday weekend. And it seemed like this was a good spot for Texas to get back on the right side of the win column at the friendly confines of the Erwin Center against a one-win team in conference play like Kansas State.

Texas also showed that they could really beat Kansas State handily when they topped the Wildcats on the road a couple of weeks ago. Yet, it was a different Texas team coming out at the Erwin Center earlier this week than what we saw against Kansas State near the outset of Big 12 play.

Who is slumping of late for Texas basketball in Big 12 play?

Kansas State got the upset at the Erwin Center on Jan. 18 by the final score of 66-65. This came just one game after the Longhorns had a poor close in a road loss to the Iowa State Cyclones last weekend. It will be important for the Longhorns not to let this losing streak move to three games when they face the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home on Jan. 22.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three Longhorns players struggling of late that are helping to spur this losing streak.
