A big week of news for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program concerning the NCAA Transfer Portal continues to roll on heading into next weekend. Texas has a few key visitors in place for the week. And Texas also landed a big commitment from the one-time Tennessee Volunteers pledge and former Wyoming Cowboys breakthrough redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.

Sark and the Longhorns staff are also after another notable transfer portal target this week in the former standout Georgia Bulldogs 6-foot-2 and 210-pound senior defensive back Latavious Brini. According to a report confirmed by Inside Texas this week, the Longhorns are set to host Brini on a visit this week.

Brini was a name to watch for the Longhorns in the transfer portal essentially the moment he put his name on the open market. He originally put his name in the transfer portal back on Jan. 17, roughly one week after the Dawgs downed the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Texas football reportedly set to host former Georgia DB Latavious Brini on a visit this week

Texas doesn’t look to be the only program after Brini right now, though. A recent report from 247Sports (paid content) noted that the Arkansas Razorbacks are also set to host Brini for a visit this week. Arkansas seems to be one of the top competitors in terms of targeting players out of the transfer portal this offseason that the Longhorns are looking into also.

If the Longhorns could eventually land a commitment from Brini out of the transfer portal, he would be the second defensive back addition to the program via this route through the offseason so far. The other defensive back addition out of the transfer portal for the Longhorns so far this offseason came in the form of the former Ohio State Buckeyes redshirt freshman cornerback Rayn Watts.

A possible commitment from Brini could also bring Texas up to five additions out of the transfer portal in total at this point of the offseason.

What Brini brings to the table from his four years playing for Georgia is 50 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, no sacks, one interception, and nine pass breakups. He was the most productive for the Dawgs in the last two seasons, where he got significant reps in more than 15 games for head coach Kirby Smart.

Next. 3 recent transfer portal entrants Texas should be pursuing. dark

Texas is very active in the transfer portal in the last week or so. That could calm down soon for at least the time between winter workouts and spring ball. This would be especially true if the Longhorns land another transfer commitment in the days and weeks ahead.
