Pretty surprising news came down for a former member of the Texas football program on the night of Jan. 24 with redshirt junior wide receiver Joshua Moore flipping his commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Moore was originally committed out of the transfer portal to new head coach Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He committed to Texas Tech late last month.

But the post that Moore had on his Twitter timeline where he had committed to the Red Raiders is now deleted. That came on the night of Jan. 24, when he posted on his Twitter timeline that he would be flipping his commitment from Texas Tech to the SMU Mustangs.

Moore will now be headed to link up with new head coach Rhett Lashlee and the Mustangs in Dallas, TX, after flipping his commitment out of the portal from Texas Tech.

This is a big get for the Mustangs, who are looking to replenish a roster that lost a lot to the transfer portal early this offseason. The losses at the skill positions have continued to rack up for SMU in the transfer portal this month.

But Moore will be getting to play for an up-and-coming offensive mind in Lashlee who is looking to replace former SMU head coach Sonny Dykes, who replaced Gary Patterson with the TCU Horned Frogs in the same role a couple of months ago.

What Moore will bring to the table for the Mustangs is an experienced wide receiver who has three legitimate years of experience playing for Texas. In his time at Texas, Moore registered 61 catches for 790 receiving yards (13 yards per catch) and 13 receiving touchdowns.

Texas has landed a big wide receiver transfer commitment of their own early this offseason in the former Wyoming Cowboys breakthrough redshirt freshman Isaiah Neyor. It looks like Texas has a solid replacement on the outside for Moore in the to-be sophomore Neyor.
