3 Texas players with something to prove in winter workouts
A couple of weeks since the start of winter workouts for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, there are already some emerging names to watch. Texas has some new faces on campus that are bringing a lot of excitement to the program. And there are some other players that are in danger of moving down the depth chart in spring camp if they don’t pick up the pace soon.
Winter workouts aren’t really a time where any major decisions will be made for Sark and the Longhorns staff in terms of movement on the depth chart. At least, that is usually the case each passing offseason.
But winter workouts are definitely a time where players can start getting settled into a new role and get a grasp of schemes and the playbook. This will be the case with the four new NCAA Transfer Portal additions for the Longhorns that are already enrolled to participate in spring ball.
And any returning players that want to build some momentum heading into spring ball can get a jump start on things in winter workouts.

Most of all, this team needs to find some new energy and confidence considering how disappointing the results were from last season. Texas finished up last season with a record of 5-7 (3-6 Big 12) after a Black Friday win in the finale over the Kansas State Wildcats.
Sark and the Longhorns will be looking to find a more prominent direction in 2022. Getting a good start this offseason in winter workouts and spring camp will be a key to that.
