New head coach Chris Beard and No. 23 ranked Texas basketball are getting set to battle the No. 14 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders and first-year head coach Mark Adams on the night of Feb. 1. This battle between Texas and Texas Tech on the hardwood is the first of two meetings between these two teams this season.

The difference between this meeting between the Longhorns and Red Raiders compared to the second one during the regular season is the fact that this one comes in Lubbock at the home of Texas Tech. Can Chris Beard and No. 23 Texas basketball pull off a big upset against No. 14 Texas Tech in Lubbock?

This is definitely one of the most highly anticipated games of the Big 12 slate this season. Texas Tech could also have their most raucous environment in school history for this meeting with Beard and the Longhorns.

Entering this game, Texas is actually a five-point underdog against the Red Raiders (according to WynnBet). Texas comes into this game as a sizable underdog against a Texas Tech team that is 13-0 at home this season.

But here’s a look into three reasons why the Longhorns can upset the Red Raiders on the hardwood in Lubbock on Feb. 1.
