What used to be one of the biggest days of the recruiting event calendar annually is now a smaller happening for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class. Around the college football recruiting landscape, National Signing Day is now obviously a smaller event in the recruiting calendar than the Early Signing Period.

There are still some notable storylines worth watching, though, around the college football recruiting landscape on National Signing Day 2022. Even in relation to second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, there is one very notable announcement coming down on the afternoon of Feb. 2.

Texas fans are going to be glued to their phones on Feb. 2 to see if the elite five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell will wind up committing to the Longhorns over the rival Oklahoma Sooners. If Texas does land a commitment from Campbell on the afternoon of Feb. 2, he would be the second five-star in the 2022 class.
