Kelvin Banks, OT

It does feel like there’s a greater chance for Campbell to start at one of the offensive guard spots for Flood and the Longhorns in 2022 than there will be for the elite five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. Texas could have four offensive tackles competing for starting reps in spring camp.

Those four are likely to be rising redshirt senior Christian Jones, redshirt sophomore Andrej Karic, Banks, and fellow incoming freshman/four-star Allen product Neto Umeozulu. Don’t rule out the likes of two other incoming freshmen in Cameron Williams and Malik Agbo in this discussion either.

Flood is likely going to take this project of rebuilding the offensive line from the ground up. If a three or lower-rated four-star recruit steps up right away in camp this offseason, he’s likely going to give them a shot to start right away if they can really prove themselves.

Ahead of the start of spring camp, though, I would still give Banks a slight edge to get a starting spot at offensive tackle along with Jones. While I do believe that it won’t be too difficult to beat out Jones for one of the younger offensive tackles, he and Banks should be the projected starters after National Signing Day.

The 6-foot-5 and 300-pound touted in-state product does bring excellent physical tools, a good frame, and good footwork to the table. But there are some looming question marks after Banks had a rough time at the practices for the Under Armour All-American Game. It will be interesting to see how he does in camp and the spring game this offseason.
