3 elite 2023 Texas targets that should want to play with Devon Campbell
Arch Manning, QB
The recruitment of the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning is really starting to heat up at this point of the offseason. According to a report from Steve Wilftong of 247Sports last week, it looks like Manning could be closing in on a list of his top four finalist schools.
Manning reportedly has eliminated head coach Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers from consideration in his recruitment. That could leave a top four in pursuit of Manning that includes the likes of the Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas.
But we can’t quite count out the LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Florida Gators quite yet. LSU is one school that could potentially make a run at Manning depending on how new head coach Brian Kelly and his staff are able to connect with their touted in-state quarterback prospect.
Manning remained the top target of the Longhorns 2023 class by a good margin since early last offseason. That will continue to be the case throughout this offseason.
A major factor with Manning in his recruitment looks to be the potential of the skill positions and offensive line playing around him. And Texas definitely helped their case in the race to land a commitment from Manning by getting Campbell signed in the 2022 class.
We will be talking about the recruitment of Manning throughout the rest of the winter all the way up to his decision day, whenever that time comes. But it looks like Texas has some level of momentum on their side with the potential of the 2022 signing class, especially with such a touted group of offensive linemen in the mix.
