Through just a few months of the offseason for the Texas football program, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian was very active in trying to reshape some of the parts of his coaching staff that now look to be upgraded. But that process might not be done yet for Sark as Texas looks to continue to try and rebuild this team from the ground-up in 2022.

Some of the more notable additions to the Longhorns coaching staff so far this offseason included the likes of new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, running backs coach Tashard Choice, and special assistant Gary Patterson. Those are some big numbers that helped to inject some excitement into the program this offseason.

What looks to be another potential addition to the staff soon for Sark and the Longhorns is the former Duke Blue Devils head coach David Cutcliffe. Texas looks to at least be in discussions with Cutcliffe about the possibility of joining this staff.

Which offensive Texas football players can be positively impacted by the addition of David Cutcliffe?

Cutcliffe just retired from his post as Duke’s head coach after more than a dozen years at the helm in Durham. He’s also had a long track record as a college football coach dating back to the 1980s. His first major coaching role was with the Tennessee Volunteers as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in the 1990’s. He got to coach up Peyton Manning during his time as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator.

After his run with Tennessee in the 1990s ended, Cutcliffe spent roughly seven years with the Ole Miss Rebels as their head coach. That’s where Cutcliffe got to coach up Eli Manning during his time in Oxford.

There are strong connections that Cutcliffe could bring to the table for the Longhorns if he joined the staff as an offensive analyst. If he does join the Texas staff, here’s a look into three players that would immediately benefit from his presence.
