The results for new head coach Chris Beard and No. 20 ranked Texas basketball are looking really good of late. Texas came up with a big win over the No. 8 ranked Kansas Jayhawks and head coach Bill Self in upset fashion at home at the Frank Erwin Center by the final score of 79-76 on Feb. 7. That win over Kansas gave Texas their second win in a row and fifth in their last six.

Beard and the Longhorns got it done against the Jayhawks in really gritty fashion, which is becoming a staple for this team at home at the Erwin Center so far this season. The goal for the Longhorns now will be to replicate those results when they face ranked opponents on the road.

Texas will definitely get their shot, though, to prove what they can do on the road when they take on the No. 12 Baylor Bears in Waco on Feb. 12. Before that time arrives, though, the Longhorns have some time to reflect on what happened through the first two-dozen games of the season so far.

No. 20 Texas basketball still has some players that need to pick up their play in February

With the Longhorns about to hit the final stretch run of the regular season, there are still a few players trying to prove why they deserve to stay in the key portion of the rotation. Throughout the rest of the month of February, Texas has the chance to contend for a Big 12 Championship and show why they should be a high single-digit seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Some of the players going through hard times right now elevating their game will be key to making that happen. Here’s a look into three players struggling for the Longhorns that have something to prove in February.
