There were few additions out of the NCAA Transfer Portal last offseason for Beard and the Longhorns that looked like they could be as impactful for the frontcourt unit as with the former Vanderbilt Commodores power forward Dylan Disu. The problem for the Longhorns, though, is the fact that Disu is bringing much value to the table in Big 12 play thus far.

Disu just isn’t making much of an impact coming off the bench for the Longhorns. In fact, it looks like Disu is more just the fourth big in the frontcourt unit. At times, though, he even slides down behind junior forward Brock Cunningham in the frontcourt unit. That really depends on how certain games are playing out for the Longhorns.

It doesn’t take long to see how much Disu is just appearing to be absent for Texas of late. That is evident in the fact that he’s registered just four total points in the last five games. A lot of that is due to a pretty dramatic dip in playing time of late. But there are still a few games since mid-January where Disu got at least a dozen minutes off the bench.

Disu’s just not making the plays he needs to show the value that he can really bring to the table for the Longhorns down the stretch this season. He’s got to do more than average just around three points per game, three rebounds, and 0.5 assists. And he’s shooting around 49 percent from the field while missing his only four attempts from beyond the arc in Big 12 play.

The time is now for Disu to try and prove his worth in this rotation. If not, he could continued to get buried down the depth chart.
