It doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait all that long until we get an official top three or five list of finalist schools for the elite five-star Denton-Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill. For that reason, the month of February could turn into a critical point on the recruiting timeline for Hill with any of the top schools involved in his recruitment.

As was the case with the five-star Cy Park linebacker Harold Perkins for the Longhorns 2022 class, Hill should be the top priority at this position group for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Texas whiffed on Perkins, watching him commit and sign with new head coach Brian Kelly and LSU last week. Perkins even committed to Texas A&M at one point.

Yet, Texas has a renewed shot to land a five-star linebacker on the recruiting trail with Hill in their 2023 class. Texas will both need to have a solid summer on the recruiting trail making the right impression on Hill and put the results out on the field this fall. Anything less than that would likely cause Hill to take his talents elsewhere.

Three other schools to watch that are heavily involved in Hill’s recruitment at this point are the Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama, and Texas A&M. But it looks like a lot of the top schools that Hill ultimately names in the near future could be local.

Hill attended Junior Day last month with both Oklahoma and Texas A&M. And it looks like it will be realistic for Texas to get him back on campus in the spring once the dead period lets up.
