Larry Fedora

The least likely addition to the Longhorns coaching staff this offseason, but one that would certainly still be interesting, is the former Southern Miss Golden Eagles and North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Larry Fedora. As a recent Texas offensive analyst, this might be a tough sell for Fedora.

Back in 2019, Fedora served as an offensive analyst on staff for former Texas head coach Tom Herman. But there was enough time since Fedora was an offensive analyst on staff with Herman and the Longhorns that there could be some interest to join the likes of Sark and this new coaching staff on the Forty Acres.

Fedora could also be an interesting offensive mind that can still add some new ideas for a much different coaching staff than he was a part of a few years ago. Sark could bring a much more open and potent offensive scheme to the table than the Longhorns ever had with Herman leading the way for this program.

At the moment, Fedora is the head coach of the New Orleans Breakers in the newly formed USFL. He will serve as the Breakers’ first head coach in their debut season this year. But the USFL season is also going to be over before the 2022 college football season begins.

Realistically, the timelines could still line up for the Longhorns to bring aboard Fedora if there was any mutual interest between him and Sark.

What Fedora could bring to the table for the Longhorns is an experienced and proven offensive mind that has multiple stops as an offensive coordinator in the Big 12. Since 2005, he’s served as the offensive coordinator for both the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
