3 offensive analysts Texas could hire to help the team right away
David Cutcliffe
What looks to be the most realistic analyst hire for the Longhorns at this point of the offseason is the former longtime Duke Blue Devils head coach David Cutcliffe. As a college football head coach with more than two decades of proven experience with player development (specifically at the quarterback position), Cutcliffe would obviously be a great hire for Texas.
There are multiple reasons why it makes a ton of sense for Sark and the Longhorns to try and bring aboard the proven and experienced coaching mind of Cutcliffe. The first reason why most Texas fans would want Cutcliffe on this staff is the fact that he has some really close connections with the Manning family.
Having coached up both Peyton and Eli Manning during his time with the likes of the Tennessee Volunteers and the Ole Miss Rebels, respectively, in the 1990s and early 2000s in the SEC, Cutcliffe could provide a very relevant connection for Texas with one key recruit. The elite five-star Isidore Newman 2023 quarterback Arch Manning is the top priority for Sark and the Longhorns staff for their 2023 recruiting class.
Hiring Cutcliffe to this staff would likely do nothing but help Texas’ case in the race to land a commitment from the elite Louisiana signal-caller Manning. He would also help some quarterbacks already on the Forty Acres such as the former elite five-star recruit and Ohio State Buckeyes transfer Quinn Ewers and incoming freshman blue-chip recruit Maalik Murphy.
Cutcliffe would probably be both the most impactful and realistic analyst hire on this list for Sark and the Longhorns for the remainder of the offseason. And it looks like discussions have already taken place between these two camps. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the weeks and months ahead.
