Javien Toviano, CB

A target of the Longhorns 2023 class that is now firmly on this coaching staff’s radar is the five-star Arlington-Martin cornerback Javien Toviano. While it was seeming like Texas was falling behind the leaders of the pack in the race to land his commitment just a few months ago, this coaching staff did a really nice job of making up ground on the recruiting trail of late.

Texas looked to make a great impression on Toviano when he was visiting Austin for the Junior Elite Day festivities last month. Toviano was likely the most notable prospect that was on campus for the Junior Elite Day weekend last month. That just goes to show the immediate impact that a successful visit like this can have for an elite prospect such as Toviano.

As recent as last month, Toviano seemingly dropped a hint at what his top eight schools were. A tweet that included the Florida Gators, Penn State Nittany Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, TCU Horned Frogs, USC, Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas, looked to provide insight on his potential top schools.

But in the time since then, it looks like programs like the Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M have emerged among his potential finalist schools too.

Most indications at the moment point to Texas making it in the top group of schools for Toviano whenever he does narrow down his list. That timeline for him to release his next round of finalist cuts could be happening later in the spring.
