3 best transfer landing spots for former Texas P Ryan Bujcevski
UMass
All of the potential landing spots on this list are ones where Bujcevski can come in as a graduate transfer and right away make an impact on that team’s special teams unit. And that looks like a situation he can land in with the UMass Minutemen this offseason.
UMass lost their four-year starter at punter in the redshirt junior George Georgopolous to the transfer portal earlier this month. And that looks to leave the Minutemen without any truly establish punter on the roster.
Georgopolous consistently improved with the Minutemen over the course of the last few years. He went from averaging around 39-39.5 yards per punt during his first two seasons with UMass to becoming one of the more impressive punters flying under-the-radar among the FBS Independent programs in the last two years.
He averaged around 42 yards per punt during the 2020 campaign and then north of 44 yards per punt last season as he was really impressive for UMass.
Moreover, while UMass might not sound like the sexiest landing spot out of the transfer portal for Bujcevski, this one certainly does make sense. UMass now looks to be one of the needier FBS teams as they’re left seemingly with no punters on the roster after Georgopolus entered the portal.
This special teams unit looked to be solid otherwise last season, especially in the punting game. This could be a pretty good situation for Bujcevski to find himself in right away if he could be starting for UMass this fall.
