Winter workouts are winding down around the college football landscape which is giving way to some excitement building around the start of spring ball for the Texas football program and second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian. Texas now looks to have their dates set for the beginning of spring practice coming out of the holiday weekend.

That gives the fans some insight into the timeline of the next steps for Sark and the Longhorns building up the program this offseason.

According to a report from Horns247 on Feb. 21 (paid content), Texas is set to have the first day of spring drills on March 22. Texas will go through three practices per week for five weeks. And the schedule is reportedly set to have the Longhorns practicing on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout each week of spring ball.

This will all come to a head when Texas plays in their spring football game on April 23. It is also worth noting that the Texas coaches clinic will take place from April 7-9.

That all means that Sark and the Longhorns are now almost exactly one month away from the beginning of spring drills. Texas can then get all of the new additions to the program so far this offseason acclimated with the team getting actual reps in practice.

Moreover, all eyes are going to be on some of the key new additions to the program for the Longhorns in spring ball such as the numerous new blue-chip offensive line signees from the 2022 recruiting class and new potential starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. The former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman signal-caller and elite five-star recruit Ewers is definitely going to have a lot of eyes on him in spring camp.
