3 most notable former Texas players still available in the portal
During one of the quieter periods for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program in the NCAA Transfer Portal, most of the headlines have slowed down in the latter part of the winter months. But there are still a few former Texas players that remain in the transfer portal that haven’t found their next landing spot yet ahead of the start of spring ball around the college football landscape.
As of the afternoon of Feb. 23, Sark and the Longhorns have lost 14 players to the transfer portal. That number moves to 15 if you include former three-star recruit and freshman wide receiver Keithron Lee, who departed from the team before he could ever take a snap on the Forty Acres.
Of those 14 players the Longhorns lost to the transfer portal so far, six of them have found their next destination. That still leaves a good chunk of the more than dozen former Longhorns players that are now in the portal that are still seeking out their next landing spot heading into the spring.

Moreover, not all the news for the Longhorns out of the portal this offseason, though, was bad. Despite losing so many players to the portal, it seemed like a lot of the roster attrition was necessary since Sark and his staff were looking to essentially rebuild this program from the ground up this offseason.
Texas got some key additions out of the portal so far this offseason including the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers and Wyoming Cowboys redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.
At the moment, it is still worth noting which former Longhorns players in the portal still have not found their next landing spot at this point of the offseason. Here’s a look at three of the most notable former Longhorns players that fit into that bucket.
