One of the faster-emerging wide receiver prospects on the radar for the Longhorns entering the spring is the elite five-star Gulliver Prep (FL) product Jalen Brown. As one of the fastest wideout prospects in the entire country for the 2023 recruiting cycle, Brown has to be someone that excites the likes of Sark and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion.

And Texas is reportedly continuing to build this connection with Brown as a fast-riser in his recruitment since Marion joined the coaching staff. Marion has provided a bit of a spark for the Longhorns to insert themselves in the mix in the race to land a commitment from Bronw.

Brown also apparently recently ran the fastest 200-meter time of any track runner in the country among high schoolers. That type of speed could obviously be lethal in combination with the space Brown could work in on this offense schemed up by Sark and Co.

Moreover, Texas looks like they could be taking a step in the right direction again in pursuit of Brown’s commitment in the week ahead. Texas is reportedly looking to get a visit locked in with Brown early next week. If that does wind up being the case, Brown would be the first five-star recruit on campus for Texas since the end of the dead period.

There also looks to be a connection for the Longhorns with Brown in the fact that he has family around Austin. That connection could play a role in his recruitment as the offseason moves along.

Texas is going to have to fight off the likes of the Miami Hurricanes, Florida State Seminoles, and Texas A&M Aggies, among a few others in the race to land a commitment from Brown. He also reportedly met with the Miami coaching staff on March 2, which isn’t a huge surprise given the fact that the Hurricanes are very close to Brown.
