Texas Basketball: 3 reasons the Longhorns will upset Kansas
Texas continues to show they can limit Ochai Agbaji
The brightest star that the Jayhawks bring to the table this season is the star 6-foot-5 and 210-pound senior shooting guard/wing Ochai Agbaji. As the consistent spark plug for this team, especially on the offensive end of the floor, Agbaji has played like one of the biggest stars in the entire country for the Jayhawks this season.
Agbaji has not slowed down of late either. In fact, he’s put up at least 20 points in five of his last six games. He’s also leading the Big 12 in points per game (20.2) and ranks in the top 20 in Division I in points per game and total points.
But the fact of the matter is that there are two teams in the Big 12 that have seemingly figured out how to limit the potency of Agbaji’s offensive abilities. And those two Big 12 teams are the Red River rivals. Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners are the only two teams in the Big 12 this season that haven’t allowed Agbaji to even reach a dozen points in any one game against them.
Agbaji’s struggles against the Longhorns do date back a few seasons, though. Out of the eight outings for Agbaji against the Longhorns, he’s only really had two effective games. And there are even two games where the Longhorns held Agbaji to just one field goal while shooting well under 30 percent from the field.
Keep up this effort against Agbaji and the Longhorns will be in a very good position to upset Kansas this weekend.
