Texas reveals SEC-based highlight video on Twitter
The highly anticipated move for the Texas Longhorns to leave the Big 12 for the SEC is likely going to come within the next few years. The expected timeline for Texas to leave the Big 12 for the SEC is likely to happen by 2025 at the latest. But that’s difficult to exactly pin down at the moment.
Texas continued to build on the hype for the move from the Big 12 to the SEC over the weekend with an interesting highlight video that was posted on the official Texas Longhorns Twitter page on March 6. It showed highlights mashed up ranging from the skyline of Austin and the University of Texas to the days of legendary Heisman-winning running back Earl Campbell.
There were also clips of multiple other Longhorns sports teams including baseball, volleyball, and swimming. The fans, many of them holding up the Hook’em hand sign, were also put on display in this highlight video over the weekend.

It’s hard to tell if this highlight video was really indicative of any other events that could be happening concerning the move from the Big 12 to the SEC in the near future. Texas likely still has some hurdles to work through before officially leaving for the SEC in a few years.
The Longhorns do still have some financial matters to resolve and need to improve on the field for the football program before this move can actually happen.
Nonetheless, it’s cool to see the university/athletic department getting the fans hyped up for the move. It does at least show some prerogative from the administration of the university to get this thing rolling.
There weren’t many updates that came out regarding the move from the Big 12 to the SEC in the last few months. That might be changing before too long.
