3 March visitors that can help Texas land 5-Star QB Arch Manning
Cedric Baxter Jr., RB
Another important running back target of the Longhorns 2023 class is the highly touted four-star Edgewater (FL) product Cedric Baxter Jr. This Florida native is one of the top-ranked running backs that currently holds an offer from the Longhorns 2023 class. And he is one of the more high-profile skill position prospects scheduled to visit Texas during the same weekend as Manning.
Texas getting a visit from Baxter will be a critical point in the recruiting timeline between these two sides. While the Longhorns are firmly in the mix to hold Baxter’s ear as his recruitment moves along this offseason, this is an opportunity they can’t miss out on.
Baxter has nationwide interest and a ton of top programs interested in going all out to recruit him. That includes potential spring visits with the likes of the Florida Gators, USC Trojans, Clemson Tigers, and Texas, among a couple of others.
Texas also has some momentum on the recruiting trail right now with Baxter thanks to the addition of new running backs coach (formerly of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets) Tashard Choice to the staff. Choice replaced the departed former running backs coach Stan Drayton earlier this offseason.
The spark in communication between Baxter and Choice is pretty clear. And if Texas wants to really capitalize on the momentum between Choice and Baxter’s camp this offseason, this spring visit will be the time to do so.
