Texas baseball has series with South Carolina postponed
Due to reported weather issues (per multiple sources, including an official release from the Texas athletic department), head coach David Pierce and No. 1 ranked Texas baseball will have to wait an additional day to begin their three-game weekend series with the South Carolina Gamecocks out of the SEC East. Texas was supposed to begin their weekend series on the road in Columbia against South Carolina on March 11.
Now, Pierce and the Longhorns will face South Carolina three times in the span of two days this weekend. The first game between Texas and South Carolina will now take place on March 12, with the first pitch set for 12 p.m. CT.
And then, Texas will face South Carolina in a doubleheader on March 13. The first pitch for the doubleheader on March 13 will take place at 12:30 p.m. CT.
On the mound for Pierce and the Longhorns in the first game of this now very busy two-day weekend series against South Carolina will be the standout redshirt sophomore left-hander Pete Hansen. In what will be his fourth start of the season, Hansen will look to continue his dominance on the mound.

Hansen has only allowed one earned run in three starts and 17 innings pitched so far this season. That one run he allowed came in an impressive win for the Longhorns last weekend in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic over the Tennessee Volunteers.
Moreover, this weekend series against South Carolina will be the first of what makes up a five-game road stretch for Texas in that state. Texas will also have road games in the state of South Carolina through March 16 against The Citadel and College of Charleston. Those road games against The Citadel and College of Charleston are just one-game midweek series.
This is an important road stretch for Pierce and the Longhorns following their challenging two-game midweek series against the Texas State Bobcats. Texas split the midweek series with Texas State. But the Longhorns are still looking to avoid stretching a losing streak to two games for the first time this season when they face South Carolina on the road this weekend.
South Carolina has struggled at times this season. They come into this weekend series against the Longhorns sporting a record of 7-5 and currently sit on a four-game losing streak dating back to a series sweep at the hands of the Clemson Tigers earlier in the week.
