With spring camp looming in just over one week for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, there will be a renewed focus also on the efforts to recruit out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas is likely going to host at least a few dozen recruits both among high school prospects and transfer portal candidates before the end of the month of March.

Sark and the Longhorns staff do have a more established list of visitors among high school prospects ahead of the start of spring ball, though. That’s good for the fortunes of the Longhorns 2023 recruiting class, but not so much for the building of the roster ahead of the 2022 season.

Texas is still seeking help via the transfer portal for the remainder of the offseason to fill various positional needs, namely on the defensive side of the ball. This includes positional needs at linebacker, edge rusher/defensive end, safety, and cornerback.

Who the final addition for Texas football out of the portal could be before spring ball?

Moreover, Texas has already filled some needs by way of the transfer portal so far this offseason. Texas has landed four commitments out of the portal so far. That includes the likes of the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers, Ohio State redshirt freshman cornerback Ryan Watts, and Wyoming Cowboys redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.

But there is still going to be more activity to come in the transfer portal for Texas in the weeks and months ahead. With that in mind, here’s a look into a prediction of who could commit to the Longhorns out of the portal ahead of the start of spring ball later this month.
