With Selection Sunday just around the corner for head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program, the fans on the Forty Acres are eagerly awaiting a potential deep postseason run for the first time in a while for this team. In the past decade, Texas has not found much success in the NCAA Tournament.

That was especially true for the Longhorns under former head coach Shaka Smart, who never raked in a single NCAA Tournament win in six years at the helm. Texas also only made the NCAA Tournament on two occasions in a more than half-decade long tenure under Smart as the head coach.

Texas is hoping that the former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Beard can come through with better postseason results than his predecessor.

Historically, though, there are some pretty deep runs that the Longhorns made in the Big Dance. Texas made the NCAA Tournament 35 times in program history. In those 35 appearances for the Longhorns in program history, they’ve posted a record of 35-38.

Texas also made it to three Final Fours and seven Elite Eights. But the last time that the Longhorns even made it to the Sweet Sixteen was back in 2008, so this program is hungry to change that trend.

Nonetheless, there are some great moments and players in the history of the Longhorns program in the postseason. Ahead of Selection Sunday on March 13, it’s worth taking a look back at some of the best players in program history in the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a look at 10 of the very best Longhorns players in the Big Dance ever.
