Texas Basketball: Greatest Longhorns in history of NCAA Tournament

10. Chris Mihm, C

While he is more notable for his run in the NBA with legends such as the Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant and the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James, the former Texas star center Chris Mihm still had some stellar outings in the NCAA Tournament. Mihm was a two-time All-Big 12 and one-time All-American big man for the Longhorns in the late 1990s.

Mihm played in three NCAA Tournament games with the Longhorns where he averaged 17 points per game, 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. His postseason outings with the Longhorns were highlighted by a really impressive performance in a loss to the Purdue Boilermakers in 1999 where he put up 21 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks.

9. Brandon Mouton, SG

As one of the most experienced players in the NCAA Tournament in the last few decades for the Longhorns, former standout shooting guard Brandon Mouton appeared in a dozen postseason games in his four-year-long run with the program. Mouton was present for a lot of Longhorns’ postseason success during his four years on the Forty Acres.

He was part of multiple Elite Eight runs just as Barnes was starting to get this Longhorns program going in the early-to-mid 2000s.

In his 12 appearances in the NCAA Tournament with Texas, Mouton averaged around 14 points per game, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and 0.5 blocks. Mouton was also a lights-out shooter from beyond the arc, hitting his looks from three-point land at a clip north of 45 percent.
