Texas trending for former 5-Star RB commit Rueben Owens
As we approach the spring visit season, the focus remains on any potential commits that second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff can get in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class in the weeks and/or months ahead. Texas currently sits with just one commit in the 2023 class, with the touted four-star Arlington-Seguin defensive back Jamel Johnson.
More action is likely just around the corner for Sark and the Longhorns staff on the recruiting trail, though, with a host of key targets among high school prospects set to visit campus in late March and early April. Texas has also already hosted a few important rising targets of the 2023 and 2024 classes too since the dead period let up two weeks ago.
Moreover, Texas is set to host one of their most important skill position targets of the 2023 class later this month in the elite five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens. A former Longhorns commit and someone that continues to have traction with this coaching staff, Owens is a really crucial target of the 2023 class to watch throughout this offseason.
Texas is set to host Owens on campus for a visit in the midst of the early stages of spring camp on the weekend of March 24. That is the same weekend that the Longhorns are set to host their top target of the 2023 class, five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.
With elite skill position targets of the Longhorns 2023 class set to visit Austin in that final weekend of March, there is obviously plenty of excitement building for what’s to come on the trail for Sark and his staff. In particular, Texas fans should be excited about what could be ahead for them in the race to land a commitment from Owens.
