3 forgotten Texas players bound to step up in spring camp
Prince Dorbah, EDGE/DE
One of the biggest positional needs remaining for the Longhorns to take care of this offseason comes at edge rusher/defensive end. Texas is looking to address that need by way of landing a commitment from the former TCU Horned Frogs two-time All-Big 12 edge rusher/defensive end and senior Ochaun Mathis.
Texas will also need some of their younger edge rushers among former blue-chip recruits such as the rising sophomore Prince Dorbah to finally step up in the spotlight. There was a point in time where it looked like Texas had a future stud in Dorbah when he committed to the Longhorns coming out of Highland Park High School.
Dorbah has not made any sort of early impact in his first two years on the Forty Acres, though.
After joining the Longhorns via the 2020 signing class as one of the highest-rated prospects in the mix, there were high expectations for the talented 6-foot-3 and 230-pound edge rusher. Dorbah still brings a pretty lofty ceiling to the table as an extremely quick edge rusher that can get off the line of scrimmage in the blink of an eye.
But considering the fact that Dorbah only took roughly a dozen snaps over the course of the last two seasons just goes to show the lack of opportunity he had with Texas thus far in his career. Now is the time for Dorbah to shine as the door is wide open for him to finally move up through the depth chart to get actual game reps in 2022.
