Ashton Porter, DL/EDGE

In a world where the decision timeline of the touted four-star Cy Ranch defensive lineman/edge rusher Ashton Porter moves up to the spring or early summer, it also wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see him become the next commit in the Longhorns 2023 class. Texas has looked like one of the top couple of schools in the race to land a commitment from Porter for a good while now.

Porter is one of those prospects that has a pretty established relationship with Davis and the Longhorns staff. That relationship could pay dividends for Davis and the Longhorns in the near future too.

And despite all the recent offers that came Porter’s way in the last few weeks, it appears Texas is keeping tight on their communication with the touted in-state product. Porter received offers from the likes of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Duke Blue Devils, and Northwestern Wildcats, just since the start of February.

Yet, it goes to show how tight the relationship is between Davis and Porter for Texas to continue to evidently remain one of his top schools heading into the spring. And Texas is in a great spot to recapture the momentum and try to truly take the lead in the recruitment of Porter.

All you really need to do is look at a few of the major recruiting sites to see where Porter’s recruitment is trending at the moment. Every single one of the expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions project his commitment to land with Texas. The same could be said for the On3 recruiting prediction machine and all the Rivals FutureCasts.
