A lot of the celebrity bracket picks were revealed in the past few hours with the start of the NCAA Tournament coming on March 17, which gives some insight into what they’re thinking about the odds for the Texas basketball program to make it through the Round of 64. And one of the most notable brackets that college hoops fans pay attention to that was revealed on March 17 could be something for superstitious Texas fans to buy into.

The 45th president of the United States Barack Obama revealed his bracket for the NCAA Tournament on March 16. Obama tends to be one of the more followed in terms of celebrity bracket predictions year in and year out.

The problem with Longhorns fans following the picks from Obama, though, for the Big Dance is the fact that he usually gets his prediction wrong for Texas. In fact, Obama has predicted the last three Texas games in the Round of 64 incorrect.

And the last time that Obama picked Texas to lose in the Round of 64 was the last first-round game that the Longhorns actually won in the NCAA Tournament. Obama had Texas as one of his teams in the Elite Eight last season. Obviously, the Longhorns would fall well short of reaching that mark.

Could the Barack Obama bracket history help Texas basketball beat Virginia Tech?

This year, Obama has the six-seed Longhorns getting knocked out by the 11-seed Virginia Tech Hokies in the Round of 64.

Knowing the recent track record of Obama in terms of picking Round of 64 games for the Longhorns, this might be a superstitious key to success. If the track record of Obama holds true in terms of his success predicting Round of 64 games for the Longhorns, then Texas will come out on top against Virginia Tech on March 18.

Moreover, Obama’s bracket does have Virginia Tech knocked out in the Round of 32 by the three-seed Purdue Boilermakers. It essentially looks like Obama doesn’t have much faith in either one of these teams from this 11-6 game to go very far in March Madness this year.
