Texas Football: Two-deep offensive depth chart for spring
Running back
Starter: Bijan Robinson
Backup: Roschon Johnson
Running back might be the deepest position group on either side of the ball once again for Sark and the Longhorns in 2022. Texas had one of the deeper running back rooms in the entire country last season, largely thanks to the duo of star sophomore Bijan Robinson and the ultra-reliable junior Roschon Johnson.
Entering their junior and senior seasons, respectively, in 2022, this duo Bijan and Roschon should be ready to take the Big 12 by storm this fall. That will largely hinge on the health of this stud running back duo. But Bijan and Roschon were close to making it through the entire 2021 season without a major injury issue to speak of. Bijan was just knocked out in mid-November with an upper-body injury for the rest of the regular season.
Nonetheless, Bijan is the set-in-stone starter at the running back position. He’s pegged as potentially the top Heisman contender at running back in the nation in 2022.
Behind Bijan is one of the most versatile and underrated running backs in the Big 12 in Roschon.
You also can’t forget about other key pieces to this stable of running backs for the Longhorns such as rising sophomore Jonathon Brooks, speedy junior Keilan Robinson, and incoming freshman former four-star recruit Jaydon Blue.
There is a ton of talent in this running back room. It’s just a matter of Sark getting this Texas offense in a good enough rhythm to allow for the ground game to reach peak efficiency this fall.
