First-year head coach Chris Beard and the six-seed Texas basketball are getting set to take on the three-seed Purdue Boilermakers and head coach Matt Painter in the Round of 32 in the East Region on the night of March 20. Texas was originally supposed to tip-off against Purdue on March 20 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, WI, (home of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks) at 7:40 p.m. CT.

But due to other games taking longer to finish up on the night of March 20, it looks like the tip-off time between the Longhorns and Boilermakers will be delayed by roughly 30 minutes.

This is a rather common occurrence in the Round of 64 and the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament when a game like this one between Texas and Purdue comes in the midst of a busy schedule during the weekend.

Texas basketball has their tip-off time vs. Purdue delayed by roughly 30 minutes on March 20

But the anticipation will now continue to build for a little while longer before Texas and Purdue can take to the floor at the Fiserv Forum for what promises to be a battle to round out the weekend.

The official Texas men’s basketball Twitter page posted on their timeline not too long ago that they “don’t think we’re going to tip at 7:40”. A follow-up tweet arrived roughly 13 minutes later saying that “our game will tip around 8:06 (ish)” on March 20.

All in all, the delay likely won’t last for too long. That pushes the game back by a little bit less than a half-hour.

This Round of 32 matchup between Texas and Purdue it set to be televised on TNT. And that broadcast will now look to start a little after 8 p.m. CT.
