Brennan Marion made ‘strong’ impression on 5-Star WR Micah Hudson
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the Texas football program entering spring ball this week. Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have a big week ahead right away both in terms of the start of spring practice and hosting key visitors on the recruiting trail this coming weekend.
Sark and the Longhorns staff will get busy right away hosting some of their top key targets of the 2023 and 2024 classes in the first week of spring ball. That comes as they welcome a number of new faces to the program as those players get their first official practice reps in spring camp starting on March 22.
Moreover, Texas is looking to continue the momentum they started building on the recruiting trail in the last couple of months for the 2023 and 2024 classes. Texas just landed a key commit in the 2023 class with four-star C.E. King defensive lineman Dylan Spencer giving his pledge to the Longhorns last week.
And Texas looks to be in a really good spot on the recruiting trail right now with their 2024 class after landing two blue-chip defensive backs since late last fall.
There’s another key target for the Longhorns 2024 class worth watching as the start of spring ball and the spring visit season approaches fast this week. Texas is looking to continue to make a big move with the touted five-star Lake Belton wide receiver Micah Hudson throughout the spring.
Texas football WR coach Brennan Marion reportedly making a “strong” early impression on 5-Star Micah Hudson
It looks like new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion did a great job on the recruiting trail thus far in terms of building a good connection with Hudson. According to a report from Horns247 on March 21 (paid content), Marion did well to make a “strong first impression” on Hudson in the last few months.
Marion and Hudson reportedly had contact here and there when he was the wide receivers coach with the Pitt Panthers last year. But now that Marion is on staff with a big-time in-state program that is pursuing Hudson hard on the recruiting trail, this connection was bound to take off.
It sounds like Marion and the Longhorns are going to be able to get a visit on the books with Hudson before the fall. He doesn’t have a visit scheduled to Texas for the spring, and that might be the case throughout all of camp. But it should be a realistic goal for Marion and the Longhorns to get Hudson on campus at some point during the summer.
Marion did visit Hudson at Lake Belton High School back in January. And that looks to be where this connection really started to gain some traction this offseason.
Hudson is clearly one of the top wide receiver targets for the Longhorns 2024 class. He is also one of the highest-rated skill position prospects that currently holds an offer from Texas in the 2024 cycle.
