Texas Football: Two-deep defensive depth chart for spring
With spring camp now officially 24 hours away from starting up for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, the excitement is building to see what could be to come from this team in 2022. Texas is about to welcome a number of new faces to the Forty Acres, and welcome back some familiar faces to the program this offseason.
Texas is set to officially begin spring practice on March 22, with the spring football game set to take place on April 23 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
This will be the first time that the Longhorns are getting full practice reps and scrimmages in since last fall. And we will soon see Texas take the field at DKR in front of thousands of fans for the first time since late November.
How the two-deep defensive depth chart could look for Texas football in spring camp?
Nonetheless, there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered for Sark and the Longhorns staff this spring. That is especially true on the defensive side of the ball.
Co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski will be looking to improve upon one of the worst Texas defenses in the modern history of the program in 2022.
In order to improve on defense, the Longhorns brought in a few key pieces thanks to a fruitful 2022 signing class and one big addition out of the NCAA Transfer Portal already this offseason. And it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see the Longhorns address a few other positional needs, namely at edge rusher and linebacker, by way of the transfer portal in the weeks and months ahead.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how the two-deep defensive depth chart stacks up for the Longhorns this spring.
