3 Texas leaders Sarkisian is relying on in spring camp
Bijan Robinson, RB
Another important leader that must step up his vocal leadership qualities in 2022 is the star and to-be junior running back Bijan Robinson. Not only does Bijan need to be one of the best players (if not the best) for the Longhorns in 2022, but he also needs to become more vocal with the way he’s able to spark this offense.
Bijan was one of the nation’s top Heisman contenders at running back last season in the first half of his sophomore campaign. But as Texas continued to run into struggles in the back half of the Big 12 slate, the Heisman chances for Bijan started to crater.
But the 2022 season is one where Bijan can really take his game into the stratosphere statistically and in terms of the impact on success in the win column for the Longhorns. Bijan will be the spark plug and largely the driving force of success in the Texas offense in 2022. He’ll just need help from the passing game to make this offense more balanced this fall, and thus give him more space to work in the open field.
The good news is that Sark continues to say that Bijan has stepped it up since winter workouts. It looks like Bijan is gaining the trust of Sark and his staff this offseason as one of the true leaders on the offensive side of the ball.
All in all, Texas should again be strongest at the running back position compared to any other group in either side of the ball in 2022. That was certainly the case for much of the 2021 campaign. But for this group to certainly reach peak efficiency this year, Bijan needs to take a newfound leadership role starting right away in spring camp.
