On the morning of March 22, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program got up and running again with the first official day of spring practice. Texas had their first spring practice on March 22, with the second set to come on March 24. And then, the spring football game is set to take place at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on April 23.

It’s exciting to see Sark and the Longhorns getting back up and running for spring practice as the program welcomes more than a dozen new additions since the start of the offseason. There are more new faces from the Longhorns 2022 signing class set to arrive on the Forty Acres this summer too.

Yet, the first day of spring practice came with a lot of speculation and developing storylines as the first day of drills usually does for the Longhorns (or any college football program really).

Texas has multiple storylines worth following in spring ball, including the looming quarterback competition, the transition for the double-digit number of new additions to the program, and a few position changes that will alter the shaping up of the two-deep depth chart on each side of the ball. All those storylines help to make up the importance that spring camp will have for Sark and the Longhorns for the rest of 2022.

Sark and his staff are really looking to set the right tone in spring drills to get this team in place to compete in the Big 12 this fall. The proper installment and transition process for the new additions to the program in spring ball will be an important part of setting the right tone from here on out.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three new additions that are already making waves for the Longhorns early on in spring camp.
