Former Texas QB Sam Ehlinger seen with Arch Manning at practice

This is an enormous weekend on the recruiting trail for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff in terms of the implications for the 2023 and 2024 Texas football recruiting classes. And the most important target for Texas on the recruiting trail that they’re hosting on campus this weekend is the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.

The talk of the town on the Forty Acres this weekend is Manning given the fact that there seems to be so much traction with him for Sark and the Longhorns staff since last summer. But the hype that Texas is in a great position to eventually land a commitment from Manning is ever-growing this spring.

That will continue to be one of the hottest storylines of the offseason for Sark and the Longhorns to see where they sit in the Manning sweepstakes.

Yet, this is likely going to wind up being one of the most pivotal points of the recruiting timeline as it relates to the Longhorns with Manning visiting Austin this weekend. He’s in Austin for a multi-day visit with a ton of other key blue-chip targets of the Longhorns 2023 and 2024 classes.

This type of energy will be hard to match for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail at any point of the offseason it seems given the caliber of prospects on campus this weekend.

And one important aspect to note for this weekend with Manning on campus is the fact that he was in attendance for the Texas practice on March 26. He got to witness firsthand what the Longhorns look like in the midst of the first week of spring practice on this day.

It also looks like Manning was accompanied by one of the best quarterbacks in the last decade or so for the Longhorns at practice on March 26. There was a picture from Inside Texas posted on Twitter showing the former Texas star quarterback Sam Ehlinger alongside Manning on the legendary golf cart going around campus.

Ehlinger and Manning were apparently spotted together on the golf card following the conclusion of practice on March 26.

Moreover, it’s great to see a recent Longhorns star such as Ehlinger (that is now playing in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts) connecting with Manning this weekend. That should only help the Longhorns continue to make the right impression with Manning in his ongoing recruitment.

Texas continues to sit among a top group of schools in the race to land a commitment from Manning that also looks to include the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide. Manning visited Georgia last weekend and looks set to visit Alabama next weekend.
