With spring ball well underway for around the last week on the Forty Acres, some of the biggest names returning for the Texas football program in 2022 are back in the spotlight. Texas started spring practice on March 22 and got their first full-pads practice done on March 26.

That all came in the midst of a big-time visit weekend for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns in the last couple of days. Given that, Sark and the Longhorns staff really have a lot of buzz surrounding this team at the outset of spring camp.

Moreover, one of the players that seem to have a lot of confidence and energy early on in spring camp is the former blue-chip recruit and breakthrough star rising sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Taking the role of one of the leaders vocally and in terms of his play on the field, Worthy is definitely one of the players to watch in spring ball for Sark and the Longhorns.

As one of the very best freshmen skill position players in the entire country last season, Worthy put his name on the map as an extremely exciting star to watch for the Longhorns. And he continues to put on a show for the Longhorns faithful in spring ball from what we saw out of him in practice thus far.

This includes a post that the official Texas football Instagram page had earlier this week that showed off Worthy getting some separation in route-running drills from rising junior defensive back Jahdae Barron. Worthy looked crisp and quick on that route posted on Instagram.

Worthy also looks to be working well with new passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Brennan Marion this offseason. Plenty of discussions and some video has emerged of how Worthy is working with Marion and the Longhorns coaching staff to continue to evolve his game now in the midst of spring camp.

Texas needs the likes of Worthy and to-be junior star running back Bijan Robinson to shine in spring and fall camp this offseason if this offense wants to gain some confidence and rhythm as a whole heading into the 2022 season. Worthy and Bijan are clearly two of the best and most proven players on this Longhorns’ roster at this point of the offseason.

The first official spring practice for Texas transpired on March 22. And Texas got underway with the first full-pads practice on March 26. Last but not least, the spring football game for the Longhorns is set to take place at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on April 23.
