3 Texas Exes helping to recruit 5-Star QB Arch Manning
Sam Ehlinger, QB
Another former Longhorns player that was reportedly accompanying Manning in attendance at the Dell Match Play golf tournament in Austin last weekend was the current Indianapolis Colts second-year quarterback and former Texas star Sam Ehlinger. And this was not the only time where Manning was accompanying Manning during his weekend visit to Austin.
Texas also had Ehlinger in attendance for their first official full-pads practice on March 26. Ehligner looked to play a big role in the festivities of this big visit weekend on the Forty Acres. And that is likely something that was planned well in advance to have Ehlinger involved over the weekend.
There was at least one photo that emerged over the weekend showing Manning and Ehlinger watching the Texas spring practice together on March 26.
These two were also spotted riding the legendary golf cart around campus together. That golf cart was something that became famous when other top-tier five-star Longhorns recruits such as star running back Bijan Robinson are on campus for high-profile visits.
Moreover, it’s good to see Ehlinger and Manning getting connected in the midst of spring ball. This can help set the tone for what Manning could do for the Texas offense a couple of years down the line. Ehlinger was the most successful quarterback in the last decade for the Longhorns. He’s also a hometown kid that really bleeds burnt orange.
It also helps that Ehlinger currently plays a prominent role in the two-deep depth chart in an NFL quarterback room. That is just another point of connection worth mentioning between Sam and Arch.
