5-Star 2024 Texas QB target Dylan Raiola trending to USC
While essentially all the attention for Texas football recruiting at the quarterback position for any cycle tends to fall on the five-star Isidore Newman product Arch Manning of late, there are other important targets to note for fans on the Forty Acres this offseason. Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee do have some other targets of the 2024 recruiting class to note at the position.
A good example of a key quarterback target for Sark and Milwee in the Longhorns 2024 class to watch this offseason is the five-star Chandler (AZ) product Dylan Raiola. This 6-foot-3 and 225-pound Texas native was once firmly on the Longhorns’ radar as a potential foundation building piece in the 2024 class.
Yet, Raiola moving out of state to Arizona made it tougher for Texas to stick around among the top schools in his recruitment. It looks like the PAC-12 schools are currently holding the edge in the race to land a commitment from Raiola. And that is especially the case for one program that is currently trending to land the commitment from Raiola.
5-Star Texas football QB target Dylan Raiola now trending to USC
The two latest 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Raiola project his commitment to land with new head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans. Those two expert Crystal Ball Predictions were placed on March 27.
And the On3 recruiting prediction machine also gives USC the lead in the race to land a commitment from Raiola. On3 gives the Trojans roughly a 28 percent chance to land Raiola’s commitment.
Moreover, Raiola was on campus for a visit with Riley and the Trojans last weekend. It looks like that weekend visit went about as well as it could for USC.
Yet, it’s hard to tell exactly when a decision is set to come from Raiola. This could still be a rather patient process until Raiola officially announces his decision. There are still some other schools that Raiola will likely want to visit over the course of this offseason including the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Texas, etc.
Texas once remained a bigger player in the recruitment of Raiola. But with Sark, Milwee, and the Longhorns placing so much priority on landing a commitment from Arch in the 2023 class combined with Raiola moving out of state, they’ve fallen behind in the last few months.
