Texas baseball vs. Texas A&M: Odds, TV/streaming info, pick
One of the most highly-anticipated home games of the regular season is about to arrive for head coach David Pierce and No. 8 ranked Texas baseball on the evening of March 29. In the final home game of the month of March, Texas is set to take on the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies out of the SEC West in their only meeting of the regular season in the Lone Star Showdown.
Between the football, men’s basketball, and baseball teams for the Longhorns this athletic calendar year, this is the only regular season meeting between Texas and Texas A&M. That will obviously always draw some interested spectators in the state of Texas.
Texas comes into this meeting with Texas A&M sporting a record of 19-7 (1-2 Big 12) following their dominant 12-1 win over the No. 16 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders where they run-ruled their conference foe to round out the weekend. That win over Texas Tech also kept the Longhorns from getting swept in the first series of the Big 12 slate.
Moreover, Texas A&M comes into this one-game midweek series in Austin sporting a record of 14-9 (3-3 SEC) following their 13-9 loss to the Auburn Tigers on March 27. Texas A&M has also lost two of their last three games heading into this one.
Here’s a look into the betting odds, TV/streaming information, and game prediction as Texas gets set to host Texas A&M on March 29 at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin, with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Texas baseball vs. Texas A&M pick
While this won’t necessarily be one of the most decisive games of the regular season for Pierce and the Longhorns in terms of their standing for any potential College World Series run or anything that can help them in the Big 12 standings, this will obviously be a big one for the fans. Texas can also build momentum by potentially taking care of business against the Aggies before resuming Big 12 play.
On the mound in this game for Pierce and the Longhorns will be the 6-foot-2 redshirt sophomore right-hander Justin Eckhardt. In his last start, Eckhardt gave the Longhorns six shutout innings on the mound in an eventual win over the Central Arkansas Bears back on March 22. Eckhardt also appeared in 1.1 innings in the loss to Texas Tech on March 26 where he didn’t allow any earned runs.
This will be an important start for Eckhardt, though. The Texas pitching staff hasn’t played too well of late (to say the very least in the last couple of weeks). And Eckhardt can help continue to turn the tide after a really solid start from Lucas Gordon where Texas run-ruled Texas Tech to round out the weekend.
Giving this pitching staff some real confidence and momentum against an in-state rival would do so much for the Longhorns heading back into Big 12 play later this week.
Texas can move their winning streak to two games if they take care of business against the Aggies on March 29. This would also be a nice energy boost for the fan base after a really inconsistent stretch of the first half of the regular season schedule in the last couple of weeks.
