The early portion of the offseason for head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program will largely feature constant headlines with the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas did a ton of work in the transfer portal last offseason to help build up this roster to contend in the Big 12 in the season that was for the men in burnt orange.

It’s clear coming out of Beard’s first year at the helm that this team has potential, but there is a lot of work to be done in order to get this roster retooled for next season. Beard and the Longhorns rounded out the 2021-22 season last week following a March 20 Round of 32 loss to the three-seed Purdue Boilermakers.

Yet, Texas did get their first NCAA Tournament win since 2014. The Round of 64 win over the 11-seed Virginia Tech Hokies for the Longhorns back on March 18 gave the program the first NCAA Tournament win since the latter stages of the 2013-14 season.

For Texas to reach the next level, though, there are a handful of roster needs that will likely have to be addressed in the weeks and months ahead. The good news here is that the Longhorns are already starting to see a major influx of potential transfer portal targets before the full college hoops offseason has even arrived.

Beard and the Longhorns can really start to build out their big board in the transfer portal for the offseason ahead.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three potential early offseason star transfer portal targets for the Longhorns.
