4 key recruits to watch in first Texas visit weekend in April
Jalen Brown, WR
Two of the top wide receiver targets of the Longhorns 2023 class are set to be on campus this weekend. And one of those two blue-chip wide receiver targets of the Longhorns 2023 class, the DeSoto product Cook, is a return visitor.
The other is the highly touted five-star Gulliver Prep (FL) wide receiver Jalen Brown. As one of the more recent blue-chip wideout targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that seemingly sits at or near the top of the big board at the position this cycle, Brown is certainly a key recruit to watch among the visitors to the Forty Acres this weekend.
Texas will need to make some big moves this weekend, though, if they want to stay in the thick of the race to land a commitment from Brown. There are some competitors among Brown’s top schools on the recruiting trail such as the Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, and Florida State Seminoles that currently sit in a great spot with him.
Texas is definitely still a player in Brown’s recruitment. But that connection between Texas and Brown could start to fade off heading into the summer if the Longhorns staff doesn’t make the right pitch with him this weekend.
This is likely going to be one of just a few opportunities Texas has to host a wide receiver as highly touted as Brown in Austin for a visit. And Texas needs to hit on this one as could be a real momentum-builder for them with Brown’s camp heading into the summer.
