It looks like the Longhorns have made it clear who their priorities are at this point of the 2023 recruiting cycle at the tight end position. Texas looks to be making the likes of the three-star Isidore Newman tight end Will Randle and three-star Sam Houston (TX) tight end Lafayette Kaiuway their top two targets at this position group for the 2023 class.

It also wouldn’t be surprising to see special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns take on two tight end commits in the 2023 class if they can seal the deal with Kaiuway and Randle.

In a world where the Longhorns can get commitments from both Kaiuway and Randle, this staff could be in a great position to have an excellent haul in this class on offense. That is largely due to the fact that a commitment from Randle could help Texas in getting a pledge from the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.

Moreover, Texas has some important early indicators that they are winning the race to land a commitment from Kaiuway at the moment. The two expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Kaiuway as of April 4 project his commitment to land with Texas.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine also gives Texas better than a 96 percent chance to land the commitment of Kaiuway. There is one On3 analyst prediction in for Kaiuway projecting his commitment to go to Texas.

It’s easy to see why there is so much momentum in favor of Kaiuway landing with the Longhorns 2023 class this spring.
